Nerja is a nature lover's paradiseMother Nature offers some of the region’s most spectacular sights and all within less then two hours from Nerja. The scenery is breath-taking all year long with flowers already in full bloom by January. Don’t be surprised if you cross paths with a shepherd tending to his flock of sheep or herd of goats. Look up in the sky and you will marvel at the many species of birds in the area. The Axarquia region also offers many beautiful places to go walking, hiking and cycling. Other highly recommended natural sights are: El Torcal, near Antequera with its famous rock formations, Montes de Malaga and Garganta del Chorro, a 180-metre deep gorge whose walls are vertical beds of limestone. Here you can also admire the infamous ‘camino del rey’, a passage closed to visitors because of its conditions, but very attractive to alpinists and dare-alls. |
